The harsh reality is that most of us are on a pretty tight budget, which means splurging on luxe fashion goodies is a thing of the past. But luckily all fashion doesn't have to cost the earth, you can mix and match some cheaper pieces into your wardrobe to create some great on-trend looks that don't scream cheap and cheerful.

Some tips for shopping for affordable fashion:

• look for key separates in dark colours for versatility
• find cheaper tops that you can layer with your more expensive ones to create different looks
• accessorise, there are some great scarves, clutch bags, and costume jewellery at affordable prices so there is no excuse not to complete your look with some great accessories

• look for sales, there always seems to be a sale on somewhere so do your homework
